01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the heart of Blue Island, Las Picosas Mexican Grill offers an authentic taste of Mexico that feels both comforting and exhilarating. This charming mom-and-pop restaurant is a vibrant celebration of traditional Mexican flavors served with a contemporary twist, making it a beloved spot for locals and newcomers alike.

The menu showcases a delightful array of choices that cater to any appetite, starting with their hearty Desayunos. Whether you crave the crunchy, savory layers of Chilaquiles bathed in rich salsa, the robust and satisfying Desayuno Las Picosas, or the customizable Huevos Al Gusto, breakfast here is a flavorful morning ritual that awakens the senses. The Breakfast Wrap provides a portable, protein-packed option with the perfect blend of fresh and spicy ingredients.

For lunch or dinner, the Especialidades are a must-try. The Tortas Ahogadas – a classic Mexican sandwich drenched in a spicy, tangy sauce – bursts with complex layers of heat and texture. Meanwhile, the Lonches Calientes and the signature Especial "Las Picosas" bring generous portions of seasoned meats and vibrant salsas that invite you to savor every bite.

No Mexican meal would be complete without the perfect beverage pairing, and Las Picosas delivers with a selection of traditional Botellas like the fizzy sweetness of Jarritos, the crisp apple notes of Sidral, and the refreshing pop of Topochico. Don’t miss their unique Sangria or the classic CocaCola Mex for that nostalgic touch.

Step inside, and you immediately feel welcomed by the warm, friendly atmosphere that so many guests have praised. The intimate, neighborhood vibe offers a genuine glimpse into Mexican hospitality, where the staff remembers your name and dishes out recommendations like Aracely, a favorite mentioned by regulars. The lively ambiance, paired with the enticing aromas of freshly cooked meals, creates an experience that goes far beyond just dining.

Reviewers consistently highlight the delicious, authentic food and inviting atmosphere. One customer lauds their chicken flat flautas—crispy and flavorful, best enjoyed with tomato sauce on the side to keep every bite perfectly crunchy. Another points to the menu’s rich use of Spanish, which speaks to the restaurant's deep cultural roots, inviting diners to embrace an authentic culinary journey. This genuine connection to heritage and community is palpable in every dish and interaction.

Las Picosas Mexican Grill is more than a meal; it is a heartfelt invitation to indulge in vibrant, memorable Mexican cuisine where tradition meets passion right on Burr Oak Avenue. Whether you’re a taco lover or seeking to explore bold new flavors, this Blue Island gem promises an unforgettable feast that touches both your heart and palate.

First time here like I say I am and will always be a taco lover till I die. First thing your in a neighborhood far as the menu is in Spanish lot of people don’t understand that. this neighborhood is bringing you all business just maybe the menu can be put in to consideration to where we can understand it. trust me I don’t discriminate I just wanna eat, the chicken burrito was amazing just what I was looking for chicken I can actually chew, just didn’t have enough sour cream, so I had to add more of my own. I can eat that with tacos all day that’s just how much I love it. The cashier has no clue what’s being said she had to call someone else to help her, but she was ok, but I will be back. Thanks guys !!

Step into Las Picosas, the latest addition to the culinary scene, where traditional Mexican flavors meet contemporary flair. Situated in the heart of bustling streets, this restaurant offers an immersive experience, captivating diners with vibrant tastes and aromas. From the moment you step inside, you're transported to a world of rich culinary heritage, where every detail reflects a passion for authentic Mexican cuisine. The decor blends rustic charm with modern touches, featuring colorful murals and energetic Latin music that infuse the space with lively energy. Las Picosas boasts an extensive menu showcasing authentic Mexican dishes, with the legendary Tacos stealing the spotlight. Renowned as the town's best, these tacos entice food enthusiasts from near and far. Following recommendations, I indulged in the Tacos with a variety of fillings and extra sauce, savoring the tantalizing blend of flavors and textures. Each bite revealed tender meats or savory vegetables enveloped in a symphony of spices and sauces. What sets Las Picosas apart is its unique approach to tacos, harmonizing traditional ingredients with innovative twists to create culinary masterpieces. Beyond a mere meal, Las Picosas offers a celebration of Mexican gastronomy, promising a memorable dining adventure for both seasoned aficionados and curious newcomers alike. As for the Tacos, they're not just a dish; they're a revelation that redefines expectations of Mexican cuisine.

I had the chicken flat flautas. They were delicious. I took the waitresses suggestion and got the tomato sauce on the side, so they remained crispy. A little less lettuce for me next time though.
